The central agency National Historical Museums has decided to move the Royal Coin Cabinet from the current address to the same building as the Swedish History Museum.
The museum is presently located in a private owned building and the rental costs are increasing. The reason for the decision to move is primarily economic and the purpose is to be able to dedicate more resources to core tasks, including public offers and managing the collections.
Until 31 March 2017 the museum is open as usual with school visits, tours, lectures and family activities. After this the exhibitions gradually closes. The last chance to visit the museum before the move is the 20 August 2017.
During the period 1 January 2017 to spring 2019 we cannot handle loan- or photo requests. Research visits, including work with objects from the collections, can be made until the 31 March 2017 after prior contact with the museum.
We regret the inconvenience and restrictions this may cause. We look forward to resume our activities and welcome visitors at our new premises during 2019.
