Inbjudna talare diskuterade finansiella och numismatiska aspekter av finska kriget och napoleonkrigen i norra Europa. Konferensens syfte var att uppmärksamma de historiska händelserna och deras ekonomiska konsekvenser.
Några av de huvudsakliga frågorna var: Hur agerade regeringarna för att reglera ekonomin? Hur förhöll sig allmänheten till den förändrade ekonomiska situationen och vilka möjligheter fanns att påverka den?
Hur uttryckets nationella och regionala identiteter genom materiell kultur, det vill säga mynt, sedlar och medaljer? Finansiär av konferensen och publikationen är Riksbankens jubileumsfond.
Invited speakers discussed financial and numismatic aspects of the Finnish War and the Napoleonic wars in northern Europe. The aim of the conference was to draw attention to the historical events and their economic consequences.
Some of the key questions were: What actions did the governments take to regulate the economy? How did the public relate to the changing economic situation and what opportunities did they have to influence it?
How were the national and regional identities expressed through material culture, i.e. coins, banknotes and medals? The conference and the publication were financed by The Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation.
